When can I enroll in the certificate program?

You can enroll in A Legal Toolkit for Starting and Scaling Your Business whenever it is convenient for you. You will have access to your classroom for a year beginning the day you complete your enrollment and pay for your course (enrollment fee is $499).  

What will I learn in the course?

You will learn how to navigate common legal obstacles that business owners encounter, including but not limited to:   

  • formalizing your business 
  • tax implications of choosing a business structure 
  • legal boundaries of operations 
  • how to advance your business while following local, state, and federal regulations 
How will I access the course?

Once your payment is complete, you will receive your login credentials via email and gain access to your online classroom for one year. 

What payment methods are available?

 We currently accept a one-time credit card payment.  

Are group enrollments available?

If you or your organization is interested in group enrollments, please schedule an appointment to connect with Corporate Partnerships Director, Brenda Berube.

Will I have a chance to engage with the instructor?     

Yes, we will offer quarterly webinars for enrolled students with course instructor Lynnise E. Pantin, ​​Pritzker Pucker Family Clinical Professor of Transactional Law. Those interested in attending will have the opportunity to submit questions for consideration in advance of each webinar. 

Are the quarterly webinars an additional fee?   

No, there are no additional fees for participants enrolled in the course. Information about quarterly webinar scheduling will be communicated within your online classroom.

Do I have to have a degree to enroll in this certificate program?    

You do not need a degree or formal background in business to participate in or to benefit from this course. A Legal Toolkit for Starting and Scaling Your Business was developed for anyone on an entrepreneurial journey. 

How is the course material taught?   

Each course module features HD video content taught by Pantin, in addition to downloadable content and helpful resources.  

Are video and audio content captioned?    

The pre-recorded lessons include automatic captioning. Additionally, transcripts are available within the Canvas course management platform.   

Does this certificate program count toward a degree? 

No. Since this is a non-credit certificate program, course completion does not result in credits toward any degree or other educational program.  

How will I know if I have earned the certificate? Will there be a final exam or similar testing? 

Once you have completed all of the available modules, you can download your certificate of participation from your Canvas classroom. There is no final exam or grade. 

Will Columbia Law School or Bisk send me a printed copy of my certificate?    

No, you will not receive a printed certificate, but you can download and print your certificate from within your Canvas classroom before your access ends.
